The HD-Vision 40 is the only candidate on this test to feature an integrated multi-tuner providing reception for all transmission paths available for high-quality digital television. No other set has this feature! This means the customer has total freedom of choice ? whether one wants to view television via DVB-S (digital satellite reception), DVB-C (digital cable television), DVB-T (digital terrestrial television), analogue cable television, analogue terrestrial television or FM radio ? you no longer need an additional settopbox! All the programmes received can be stored in a single common programme list, independently of the signal source used.
Multitude of connection options
In addition to coming equipped with every imaginable type of tuner, the HD-Vision 40 also features a CI slot as well as a Smartcard reader, making it ready for Pay-TV, and any future developments. In Germany, for instance, you can enjoy the national football league (Bundesliga) via arena using a CryptoWorks CI module (in conjunction with an arena subscription) on your HD-Vision 40 ? in 16:9 wide-screen format, and guaranteed 100% free of pixel errors.
In addition, the HD-Vision 40 provides a multitude of connection options such as two HDMI sockets, USB, two Scart connections as well as one connection each for VGA, components, S-Video and FBAS. It is thus easy to connect a DVD player, camcorder or video recorder. Furthermore, TechniSat supports the built-in loudspeakers in the shape of line out connections for a separate active sub-woofer.
Simple operation
The TechniSat HD-Vision provides a particularly convenient, easy-to-use installation assistant facility for the initial menu-driven installation of the set ? TechniSat provides a wide range of options that can be realised simply. The user is guided through the settings menu with clear instructions in the preferred language of choice (14 languages available). The installation assistant helps the user to set the built-in TV tuners correctly, step by step. The keys on the remote control are logically positioned, and thus further support the ease and convenience of the menu-based operating system.
Best picture quality
The HD-Vision complies with all technical as well as legal licensing requirements to reproduce television broadcasts in accordance with the HDTV standard (HD-ready) and provides detailed images according to the test conducted by AudioVideoFoto-Bild. The strictest possible quality standards are applied during the production of the HD-Vision. To ensure the best picture results, only selective panels, known as Best Panels, are used. This means TechniSat can guarantee that each HD-Vision set will provide a picture 100% free of pixel errors. In addition, the HD-Vision 40 comes equipped with a DigitalDirekt feature. The use of an integrated multi-tuner ensures the digital input signals (from satellite, cable or terrestrial antenna) are not subjected to any digital/analogue conversion on their path through the HD-Vision to the LCD panel. Result: best possible picture quality, even with PAL signals. And the HD-Vision 40 has a special feature: it can recognise the letterbox bars associated with 16:9 format broadcasts, and zooms in to full picture size, thus obviating the need for a manual adjustment of the picture format.
Outstanding sound quality
The jury expressed its amazement at the sound quality of the HD-Vision 40. The two detachable loudspeakers are available for the reproduction of sound, as are the analogue and digital audio outputs. The built-in loudspeakers provide pleasantly clear voice and sound quality at normal room listening levels. The set also comes equipped with an AC3 Dolby Digital bitstream out socket, a sub-woofer as well as a headphone output that can be controlled via the loudspeaker keys on the remote control. If the loudspeakers are no longer required, they can simply be detached. This reduces the width of the HD-Vision 40 from 1.20 metres by 20 centimetres.
Added Value services ? free of charge
The TechniSat HD-Vision comes complete with the free TechniSat Added Value services such as the programme information service "SiehFern INFO", the programme list manager ISIPRO, the automatic software update as well as the TechniSat installation assistant "AutoInstall".
The HD-Vision 40 is available in silver with detachable 2-way system loudspeakers featuring bass reflex, and is available either with or without a contrast pane. The manufacturer guarantee extends for 5 years (2 years total guarantee plus 3 years parts guarantee).
